Every year, the awards celebrate the wrestlers, coaches, officials, volunteers and clubs who have made an exceptional contribution to wrestling in Scotland. Whether it’s a standout performance on the mat, years of quiet dedication behind the scenes, or someone who has helped grow the sport in their community, we want to hear about them.

The last strategic cycle has been a period of significant progress for Scottish Wrestling. This has been made possible by our wrestling community and our partners, who have dedicated their time and energy to the sport. We thank everyone who has played a part. This strategy represents the next stage in our development. It is a commitment to building on the progress of recent years and creating a stronger, more sustainable future for wrestling in Scotland. It will be delivered together with the whole wrestling community, and our values will guide every decision we make along the way. At the heart of the strategy is our ambition to provide a world-class wrestling experience for all. We want more people to have the opportunity to take part, progress and contribute to wrestling, whatever their starting point or ambition. We want everyone who becomes part of the sport to feel welcome, valued and able to achieve their full potential.

We also recognise that a strategy only matters if it leads to action. The Board will remain accountable for its delivery, supported by annual operational plans setting out what we will do and how we will do it. Each year, our Progress Map will show where progress is being made, what the wrestling community is telling us and where we need to improve. We are excited about the next four years and look forward to continuing this journey together.

The Summer of Sport is a £20 million Scottish Government initiative, facilitated by sportscotland, giving young people aged 3 to 26 the chance to get active in a landmark year of sport that includes the FIFA World Cup and the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Thanks to the funding awarded to Scottish Wrestling, we were able to keep the camps affordable so that no young person missed out.

Over three weeks in the summer, camps ran Monday to Friday at:

• 29th June - 3rd July - Palace of Art

• 6th July - 10th July - Fortified Futures

• 13th July - 17th July - Reaper Grappling

Each camp was hosted by the Team Scotland Wrestling coaching team, led by three-time British Champion Ross McFarlane. Young wrestlers of all levels, many stepping onto the mats for the very first time, enjoyed a week packed with fun, games and everything wrestling, growing in skill, confidence and friendship along the way.

A huge thank you to sportscotland and the 2026 Summer of Sport for making these camps possible, to our partners at Glasgow Wrestling Club and WRSTL, to our fantastic coaches and volunteers, and to every young wrestler and family who took part.

Founded in 2026, WRSTL encompasses all aspects of wrestling, from grassroots engagement to supporting national-level competitors. The organisation is led by Ross McFarlane, a three-time British Champion and Team Scotland athlete, who brings over 27 years of experience in the sport both domestically and internationally.

Scottish Wrestling and WRSTL aim to create more opportunities for individuals to get involved in wrestling, strengthen connections across clubs, and provide supportive athlete development. By working together, both organisations are committed to building a stronger, more inclusive wrestling community across Scotland and ensuring the continued growth and success of wrestling.
